- Google owns Nest (for $3.2 billion)
- NestLabs was founded by two Apple engineers: Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers
- Algorithms in the software allows them to intellectually "set" themselves up
- Nest works with many products such as Alexa to create voice-action technology
Nest Products/Facts:
- First product = thermostat
- Very successful
- There is a difference between the backplate of the older thermostat and the newer one: older one has random screws around the thermostat and newer screws are more organized (in a certain order) - (what we learned at the company)
- A thermostat allows a person to change the temperature and can be controlled on any device
- Second product = smoke detectors
- Nest Protect is voice activated with alarms
- June 17, 2015 - Nest launched a new version of the Nest Protect which helps catch slow and fast burning fires
- Newest invention = Dropcam
- Security camera, indoor and outdoor monitoring
